The photographs in the series, The Illusion of Disembodiment, stem from my interest in the mind and its ability to create suspended states of awareness through interaction with manufactured reality. This group of images portrays 20-40 year old men playing video games. The project was inspired by FMRI brain scans of boys playing different video games, which in turn prompted my curiosity in their altered state of reality. My ensuing photographs are not a comment on the positive or negative nature of video games, but rather, an investigation into the choice to disengage from reality.
